Artichokes and Apricots

The Supper Club is back and we have a new member- Ashley!  I thought we were going to impress her with our cooking knowledge (well ok, not me) but she seemed to be quite the chef! She even reads cooking blogs in her spare time.

This month was Artichokes and Apricots and all the dishes were fabulous.   Tara set up a Pintrest board for people to share their dishes- so far- I'm the only one who used it.  http://pinterest.com/stara/supper-club/   LADIES....get on it!

And because I wasn't thinking of this blog when I was taking pictures, I  can't showcase all our hard work.  I'll try harder next time.

Chinese Food

Like December, we broke with the ingredient tradition and instead, opted to base our cooking around a theme. We chose to make Chinese food to support Tara's organization All Girls Allowed. We envisioned cooking our meal quickly so that Tara could speak to us about what her organization does for young women in China and what she does for the organization. We were also hoping to watch a DVD called China's Lost Girls narrated by Lisa Ling. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!?! WE CAN'T DO SUPPER CLUB QUICKLY!

Unfortunately, we were only able to hear a little bit about what Tara does for her amazing organization. She distributed marketing material and left us the DVD to circulate between each other. We are SO happy that Tara is in our group and I (the write of this post) speak for everyone when I say that we look forward to hearing more about what she is doing and how God is working in her life through this organization. Tara's quote for the night: "I feel like I am right where God wants me to be." sighhh..... what a great thing to hear!!!!

So- Chinese food was made and Chinese food was eaten.... take a look at the pictures or click here to see a quick video of the evening. If you watch till the part where we actually eat...you will get to see us enjoy food set to authentic Chinese music. Next themed supper club, I think we need to add the music in real life- not just on the video. Music made the night seem more Chinese-y.

Cookie Exchange

In December, we met at Leah's lovely abode. The sup-sup-supper club decided to break from the ingredient regulations and instead do a cookie exchange. We all enjoyed stuffing ourselves with cookies so much that we didn't have room in our tummies to drink the made-from-scratch-hot-chocolate Mary Kay made. Oh well....good thing winter is long- some other time!

The great thing about the cookie exchange is that we all were able to take enough home with us to share with our family, roommates and co-workers. AND the night wouldn't be complete without Leah giving us all a little gift! Last year, she gave us candles and this year we all got great kitchen utensils! Although it is so like Leah to do that, we didn't see it coming! What a great surprise!

Take a look at the pictures (there are not that many because like I said, we were stuffing ourselves!)

Brunch!

The girls in our Sup..Sup...Supper Club have been busy cooking after a long summer and early fall hiatus. In November, we met at Malisa's beautiful home in Arlington. While we all took great pains to make a delicious dish, Malisa provided an elegant table setting complete with fancy drink mix and pear appetizer.

The brunch theme ingredients were: cranberry, sweet potatoes, cinnamon, vanilla

Take a look at the pictures and see how we incorporated them :)
